Supporting Immigrants

Mother Earth tells me that she rejects any legislation which attempts to increase the oppression of immigrants in this country. Such legislation is but one part of a broader program by our current federal government to reduce the freedom and raise the exploitation of the great majority of people here and abroad. Its principal purpose is to feed the greed of global corporations, their directors, major stockholders, and those who serve them in management, government, academia, and elsewhere. Mother Earth does not choose one group of humans over another based on their place of birth, skin color, or language and she urges us to refuse such choices. Instead, please support those in the U.S. and other countries who organize and take public positions nonviolently for equal rights to immigrants and against global corporate greed. And press for the adoption of laws which recognize that Mother Earth created us with an equal right to share fully in the benefits and challenges of the community in which we live, however long or short the time since we came there, and whatever the manner of our coming. She also accepts no borders but those that she has given us, in the form of natural regions, usually marked by the watersheds of the streams and rivers which flow through them; and she has given us the power and the right to move among such regions as our needs and natural abilities dictate.

To her, we humans are delightfully diverse, but also one. None of us have the right to stand against the needs of others, except in defense of our own needs, and even then without violence towards one another. Made to be social, we gain most from cooperation, and least from divisiveness and conflict. Most importantly, she expects us to live as humble and respectful creatures that are flesh of her flesh, who seek harmony in her and with one another, and who know ourselves to be as wild and dependent upon wilderness as the rest of her great creation.
